Abrasive wheel - Mounting, Inspection and Testing

This course is designed for persons who's duties include the mounting of Abrasive Wheels. It is a requirement under the 1998 Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations that such persons are suitably trained to undertake this duty.

Course Details

  • Abrasive wheel basic construction
  • The 1972 regulations and the effects of Puwer on them
  • Identification of all components such as flanges, blotters etc.
  • Safety precautions to be used when mounting wheels
  • Examining Flanges and blotters
  • Wheel examination
  • Types of abrasive
  • Understanding of all wheel markings
  • Speeds of spindles and wheels
  • Use of safety guards
  • Examination of safety guards
  • Correct adjustment of rests
  • Wheel balancing

Successful trainees are awarded a certificate of training which is recognised by the Factory Inspectorate as proof that formal training has been carried out.
