First Aid Training - Duration One Day

IN ACCORDANCE WITH HSE 1981 (FIRST AID) ACOP AND GUIDANCE AIMS.

To introduce the students to the basic principles of First Aid, and to help them to distinguish between first aid administered in and out of work.

To understand their role within the framework of emergency aid administered prior to the arrival of more specialised help.

To know how to apply life saving skills in situations where a casualty requires non invasive airway management and/or external cardiac massage.

Course Details

  • Understand the legal requirements and the procedures to report to the enforcing authorities.
  • The methods of contacting the emergency services
  • The general rules when dealing with multiple casualties
  • The principles and priorities of diagnosis and treatment
  • The first aiders responsibilities and when the role should cease
  • The factors to be considered when assessing the situation
  • Be able to perform the recovery position on a patient
  • How to fill in a record of treatment and understand how to keep accurate records
  • Be able to perform artificial respiration and cardiac massage
  • Understand how to perform clearing a blocked airway in an unconscious casualty
  • Identify the function of dressings and bandages

Candidates successfully completing the assesment at the course conclusion are awarded a certificate indicating that they have been subjected to a formal training course. A certifcate of attendance is provided for each trainee.
